Rising junior at Immokalee High, J.C. Jackson, invited to play in national all-star game
Special from the Naples Daily News:
The accolades continue to roll in for members of the Immokalee High football team. Rising junior J.C. Jackson, received an unexpected invitation to participate in the 2014 Under Armour All-America game on Wednesday, 18 months ahead of when the game will be played.
“I was very surprised because my mom called me and told me I had a UPS package waiting for me,” Jackson said. “When I got home and opened it and saw what it was, it was nice. I’ve been working hard and I’m proud to get the opportunity.”
The Under Armour game is held annually at Tropicana field in St. Petersburg in January and features some of the top high school players in the country. The game is broadcast annually by ESPN. Past participants include current NFL players Julio Jones and A.J. Green, as well as USC quarterback Matt Barkley.
As a sophomore in 2011, Jackson had 18 catches for 554 yards — an average of nearly 31 yards per reception — and six touchdowns.
The invitation figures to be the tip of the iceberg in terms of Jackson’s arrival on the national recruiting scene. He’s already committed to Florida State, but has received increased interest — like many of his Immokalee teammates — over the past few months.
