New companies sprout rapidly from Immokalee's IMMBIZ

Barely five months old and the Immokalee Business Development Center (IMMBIZ) already has six young companies growing from its entrepreneurial garden and seeds for more have been planting and are budding.

IMMBIZ launched and the end of April and is currently conducting its second six-week entrepreneurial school.

New companies benefiting from the training and expertise of IMMBIZ run the gamut from construction to daycare and include a company manufacturing awnings and portable gazebos for the beach.

SandySail Sunshades makes those awnings and gazebos, shaded lean-tos really which are more sophisticated, easier to set up and take down and provide far more shade and comfort than beach umbrellas or those elaborate tents that blow down in any kind of a breeze.

Padilla Construction Company specializes in home construction and renovations. Padilla was one of Immokalee’s first businesses to receive certification for so-called Section 3 U.S. government contracts, which means as a minority-owned company it can qualify for special advantages on those government contracts and companies doing business with the U.S. government.

Anderson Family Day Care has been in business for a while in Immokalee and is looking to expand its child and family care services.

Lazy Days Commercial Cleaning Company is the vision of a young Immokalean looking to make her way in the business world.

IHope Construction Suppliers is a wholesale and used construction supply company that grew out of the IHope non-profit community response to Hurricane Wilma’s destruction in Immokalee in 2005. The construction supply company is expanding and helps support the continuing relief efforts of the IHope non-profit agency.
