Phillippi named Civil Servant of the Year by Chamber of Commerce

Technically speaking, she IS a civil servant.

And Penny Phillippi was honored last week by the Eastern Collier Chamber of Commerce as its "Civil Servant of the Year," a great honor.

But, of course, as executive director of the Immokalee Community Redevelopment Agency, Phillippi has become the central guiding force - along with a panel of citizen advisers - in guiding Immokalee's future as "Florida in the 21st Century."

Drawing praise from local, state & federal office holders, statewide planners and planning agencies, Phillippi works tirelessly to promote the vision of Immokalee as one of Florida's key communities of growth, change and opportunity well into this new century.

"It's an honor to be recognized by the Eastern Collier Chamber of Commerce, one's hometown leaders," Phillippi said. "But nothing I do would be possible without the support and guidance of Immokalee's leaders.

"Immokalee is blessed to have so many thoughtful, active and visionary leaders. We, as a community, have a great future ahead of us."

Congratulations to Penny for the recognition for her great work! Every time I see Penny she is on a mission for Immokalee!
Conservation Collier is a newcomer to Immokalee but we look forward to meeting all of you. The Pepper Ranch is a public preserve purchased by the County (using your voluntary referendum dollars) in 2009 and is currently open to the public on non-hunt Saturday's ffrom 8 am to 1 pm through April 23, 2011. This is just the beginning! We are working to expand public access as we are able. Come see us at the Ranch! Call 239-252-2961 for more details. Great job Penny!!! Way to go!

I have been fortunate to have made the acquaintance of Penny and her superb staff. I can't think of a more deserving recipient for this recognition due to Penny's vision, insight and actions taken; all for the improvement of her community and its residents. Penny is tireless, fearless and committed. Behind her she has a staff who assist in making her vision become reality. Kudos to you Penny...wishing you the best of luck with you and your teams' (all of them!) continuing success for Florida in the 21st Century - Immokalee.
