It is a future that began with a dream nearly a decade ago by visionaries who see and recognize Immokalee as sterling example of what Florida can become in the 21st Century. Immokalee is Florida in the 21st Century!.

The past year, 2009, was by far the most significant year for the Immokalee Community Redevelopment Agency since advanced planning for Immokalee began nearly a decade ago.

Under the leadership of Executive Director Penny Phillippi and Advisory Board Chairman Fred N. Thomas, Jr., the Immokalee CRA completed its Master Plan and submitted it to Collier County where its approval is expected in the coming months.

This milestone is unmatched in Collier County and marks an unprecedented and historic moment in the history of Immokalee. 

Working with the Collier County Airport Authority, the Immokalee CRA began implementing steps to transform the Immokalee Municipal Airport into a significant hub of commercial activity.

The Immokalee CRA initiated a broad effort to place the community on the national and international stage where business and industry will be attracted to this shining jewel at previously unknown intensity.

Details of these and many other accomplishments are listed in the Annual Report, which will be posted here after presentation to the Collier Commission. But suffice it to say, the accomplishments of the Immokalee CRA in 2009 are only the beginning. The upcoming decade holds for Immokalee and the CRA the promise of historic growth and transformation.

As we move forward, the world will come to recognize Immokalee for its diversity, entrepreneurial spirit, unbridled optimism, unparalleled innovation and opportunity as Florida in the 21^st Century.
